What's a good for breakfast? (Pancakes Recipe)

We tend to overlook the importance of a good breakfast, but we shouldn't!

During the overnight fasting, our glucose stores decrease. What is glucose? It’s the main fuel of our brain! Breakfast allows us to regain our energy in our muscles and our brain so that we can face the day. Several studies show that people who eat breakfast have better concentration during the day. It would also allow to have a better mood and to be less irritable!

Breakfast allows you to start the day on a good basis by providing your body with several essential nutrients. What is a good breakfast? It should contain food from three food groups of the new Canada's Food Guide: fruits and vegetables, protein foods, and whole-grain foods.

A healthy breakfast should include complex carbohydrates such as cereals, rice 
and beans. Prioritize whole grains with high fibre content! It is also essential to consume a good amount of proteins, which you can find in soy milk, peanut butter, Vegan Pro protein powder, soft tofu, nuts, etc.

 

Here is a chocolate pancake recipe that contains all the essential nutrients for a good breakfast!

Ingredients (4 portions)
1 ripe banana
1 cup oatmeal
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
.

Method

1. In a food processor, add all the ingredients and process until smooth.

2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once hot, add approximately 1/3 cup of batter. Cook for 3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3 minutes.

3. Repeat till it makes 4 pancakes.

*To serve, top with desired toppings like fresh fruits and nut butter!
