Our Best Cinnamon Buns

Cinnamon buns are a great classic that is generally loved by everyone. It’s difficult to take them out of the oven without wanting to enjoy one straight away (and I highly recommend it)!

These brioches take much less time to make than the recipes we generally see, yet they are just as tasty. The vanilla and maple frosting adds the perfect final touch!

Ingredients (11 buns)

Bun dough
1 1/4 cup Plant-based milk, warm
1 tbsp Brown sugar
8g Active yeast
2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/3 cup Canola oil
Garnish
1/3 cup Vegetable margarine
1 tbsp Ground cinnamon
Icing
1 tbsp Vegetable margarine
2 tbsp Plant-based milk
1/2 cup Icing sugar

Method :

For the dough

1. In a small container, mix the plant-based drink, brown sugar and active yeast. Leave for 10 minutes for the yeast to activate (tiny bubbles should form on the surface).

2. Meanwhile, mix flour, salt and cinnamon.

3. Once the yeast mixture is ready, transfer it to a large bowl. Add the oil and coconut sugar, mix. Gradually, using a whisk, add the flour mixture. A sticky ball should form in the bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let sit for 1 hour at room temperature.

For garnish

4. In a bowl, place the margarine and coconut sugar. Melt for 20 seconds in the microwave. Add the cinnamon and mix well.

5. Once the dough is ready, on a floured work surface, roll out the dough. Form a 20 x 10 in. rectangle. Spread the filling on the dough. Gently roll the dough from the shortest side. Cut into 11 slices using a knife.

6. Place the slices on a lightly oiled baking sheet or dish. Leave to rest for 30 minutes.

7. Preheat oven to 350˚F.

For the icing

8. In a bowl, using a whisk, mix all the ingredients until you obtain a smooth and creamy glaze.

10. Bake the buns for 30 minutes in the oven. Let cool and cover with icing.
