10 Ways to Take Care of Yourself in 2021

Cheers to a whole new year! Over time, you learn that the best way to be happy in all areas of your life is to first take care of yourself. Not the others. 2021 is the time to get started. We all have to begin somewhere... Here are some ways to do so!

10 ways to take care of yourself in 2021

2020 is (finally) behind us. It has been a confronting and difficult year for many of us. We have faced a lot of unknown and uncertain situations. The lack of control over the situation caused me a lot of stress, and it pushed me to find strategies to understand my stress better and live with it.

For 2021, I wish us much more gentleness and love towards others, but especially towards ourselves. To achieve this, you have to take care of yourself. Give you some time. Just 10 little minutes per day can be enough!

To help you, here are 10 small actions that do good...

1. Take the time to savour your favorite beverage

If you like to drink a good latte coffee every morning, enjoy it while doing a pleasant activity! It can be while reading, watching your favorite series or listening to a podcast.

2. Dance

It may seem insignificant, but dancing like 10 minutes a day can really help relieve the stress accumulated in our day.

3. Clean up your social networks

Take a few minutes to unsubscribe from people who are harmful to your well-being. The question to ask yourself is simple: Does this person make me feel good?

4. Take a walk

A few minutes to move your legs and breathe fresh air. At the same time, you can listen to podcasts, music or just the city's noise.

5. Learn to say no and listen to yourself

You don't have to go to an event if you don't feel like it. Learning to preserve energy and listening to your needs allows you to take a lot of pressure off your shoulders.

6. Find a little hobby

Explore different activities to do solo and find the one you like! Cooking, knitting, reading, doing yoga, etc.

7. Play

Playing helps to free your mind and allows you to focus on a fun time. It could be board games with your partner or even playing with your children or pet!

8. Breathe

This action may seem very simple, but too often, we forget to breathe well! Stopping for a few minutes and taking deep abdominal breaths can bring a lot of calm.

9. Take baths

Baths bring a lot of calm because this is a moment for us. We are alone in the tub, and usually, no one bothers us. Take the opportunity to read a book, listen to a podcast or simply do nothing and relax!

10. Find a pleasant way to move

We all have different interests, and that's why we don't all have the same way to move! Some people love to cross-country ski; others prefer to run. The important thing is to find an activity that we love and that suits us! When you have found yours, it will become a little moment of respite and pleasure.

It's not about doing all of these tips every day but remembering that doing a few on a daily basis will make you feel more calm and happy. The most important thing is to listen to your needs and find what works best for you.
