8 Tips for Surviving Mondays
8 tips for surviving Mondays
Since I am self-employed, I have to admit that I no longer have anxiety on Sunday nights when I think about Mondays. However, too often, I still overload it and therefore end up with a more stressful and exhausting day. Starting your week stressed and tired is not so pleasant!
Over time, I have developed a few little tips that I try to apply as often as possible to make my Mondays more enjoyable. I still have a long way to go, but I'm working hard on it!
So I am sharing my 8 little tips with you, hoping they can help you too...
1. Plan your week on Sundays (or Fridays)
Whether it's when you finish working on Friday nights or just before starting to work again on Sundays, planning always helps reducing stress. It allows you to overview your weekly tasks and organize each day well. Also, it avoids unpleasant surprises!
2. Get a good night's sleep
One thing I need to remember every day is that sleep is non-negotiable! Sleeping well allows us to have enough energy to get through our day's work and, most importantly, not start our week exhausted. Even though it may be tempting to go to bed late on Sunday nights to make the most of our weekends, getting enough sleep is always best!
3. Avoid overloading your day
When planning our week, it is very important not to overfill your Monday. I, myself, tend to do it as if my week needs to start on fire! On the opposite, starting your week at a slow pace allows you to have more energy for the next few days.
4. Plan a calm morning
Starting your day on the run is never fun. You feel pressure about time, and on my end, I can quickly become stressed or in a bad mood. It is best to relax and enjoy some time in the morning. Take a few minutes to do yoga, read or listen to your favorite TV show!
5. Create a new tradition
Why not make Mondays more pleasant and different by creating a new tradition? Whether it's a special breakfast, a stop at your favorite coffee shop after work, or catching a movie in the evening, this slight change will make your Mondays more exciting!
6. Socialize
Above all, do not isolate yourself for the whole day. Speaking with coworkers, family, or friends is always lovely. It allows you to share small moments or talk about how you feel. It changes ideas, and it feels good!
7. Drink your favorite beverage
I don't know about you, but drinking my favorite beverage (a good latte coffee) always makes me happy. On Mondays, I tend to pour myself more than one. It makes me feel good, and it feels different!
8. Remember that the week has only just begun
I end this one by reminding you that on Mondays, your week has only just begun! Try to remove some pressure off your shoulders. You still have four more days to complete your tasks.
As mentioned at the beginning of my article, I'm far from an expert of "slow pace Mondays", but I try hard to make it happen by applying these few tips. Hope you can do it too!
