Chocolate & Matcha Squares
You don't really like matcha tea but still would like to enjoy all of its benefits? This recipe is for you! Thanks to cocoa powder, this recipe perfectly hides the taste of matcha. I even did the test with my boyfriend, and he saw nothing!
Unlike some other recipes, I decided to leave the chia seeds whole, and it gives a little crunchy texture to the squares that I really like.
Ingredients (16 squares)
1/2 cup No added sugar applesauce
1/3 cup Plant-based milk
1/4 cup Canola oil
1/4 cup Pure Organic Coconut Sugar
2 tbsp Organic Chia Seeds
2 tsp Vanilla extract
3/4 cup Whole wheat flour
1/2 cup Pure Organic Cacao
1 tbsp Pure Organic Matcha Tea
1 tsp Baking powder
Pinch of salt
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F and oil a 20 cm (8 inches) square pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine the applesauce, plant-based milk, oil, sugar, chia seeds and vanilla.
3. In a second bowl, combine the flour, cacao powder, matcha tea, baking powder and salt. Add to the liquid preparation and mix.
4. Pour mixture into the pan and bake for 30 minutes in the oven or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
5. Let cool, unmold and cut into 16 squares.
