My 5 Favorite Vegan Alternatives To Coffee
My 5 Favorite Vegan Alternatives To Coffee
A few years ago, I challenged myself to stop drinking coffee. Being a big fan of this beverage, it was very difficult. I still managed to stop drinking it for a year. Today, I drank a coffee in the morning, but I rarely take a second. It's not that I don’t want to, but if I drink too much caffeine, I end up with palpitations and disturbed sleep.
So during this year without coffee, I found several alternatives allowing me to replace caffeine and I share them in this article.
Very simple to prepare, it is very similar to instant coffee. Just put a small amount in a cup, add hot water and stir. Like coffee, it is possible to sweeten it and add milk to taste. Chicory has a slight taste of molasses and caramel.
Kombucha
Very popular in recent years, this sparkling drink is drunk cold. We therefore do not find the comfort of a hot coffee, but for its taste, it is really worth trying it! There are many flavors and brands on the market that are all delicious.
Chai latte
Another comforting drink. Especially in the fall in my opinion. Just brew some chai tea (tea bags are easily found at the grocery store) and add a frothed milk of your choice. With a little more maple syrup, it's always delicious.
London Fog
This drink is one of my favorites. Like the chai latte, the principle is to add milk to an Earl Gray tea. What makes it even more special is the addition of vanilla syrup which makes the drink so good. It was a real discovery for my boyfriend when I introduced him to it last winter!
Hot chocolate
I couldn't miss the famous hot chocolate which is a great classic. It is above all, in my opinion, the most comforting hot drink of all. We all have very fond memories of this drink, I'm sure. Here some recipe ideas :
Whether you like to drink coffee or not, all of these ideas are good for making a little change in your day! Especially with the very cold winter days, I spend my days drinking only warm and comforting drinks.
