Why & How Consuming Flaxseeds?
Why & How Consuming Flaxseeds?
Flaxseeds are getting more and more popular, and there's a reason why! They contain an important source of fibre and protein, as well as vitamins and minerals. These seeds are an excellent ally for your health, and eating them regularly is a wonderful habit to adopt. Plus, it is interesting to consume flaxseeds as part of a vegan diet since they are a great source of omega-3s.
The large amount of fibre in flaxseeds helps reduce or prevent constipation. In addition, they allow you to add an interesting amount of vegetable protein to your meals and/or snacks.
For your digestive system to properly assimilate flaxseeds, they must be ground! To grind them, simply use a coffee grinder or blender.
RAW Nutritional's Organic Ground Flaxseeds are a great option. Like all of their products, they are organic, GMO-free, herbicide-free and pesticide-free. Since it is ideal to consume ground flaxseeds rather than whole, RAW Nutritional grounded them for you. Minus one step!
Another good reason to consume flaxseeds is that they are an excellent egg substitute. When mixed with water, they inflate to create a gooey texture that is a perfect substitute for eggs in some cookie, cake and muffin recipes.
1 egg = 1 tbsp of ground flaxseeds + 3 tbsp of water
Let stand for 5 minutes
How to consume them?
- Sprinkle them on salads, oatmeal or yogurts
- Add a spoon or two in smoothies
- Add them to veggie balls
- As a replacement for eggs in recipes like cookies, muffins, cakes or breads
- Add some in your jam
I also suggest trying these recipes, which contain a fair amount of flaxseeds and are delicious!
- Superfoods Squares (No-Bake)
- Cacao Coffee Donuts (One Bowl + No-Oil)
- Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (Vegan)
- Matcha, Banana & Coconut Overnight Oats
- Fall Spices Muffins
I hope this article will make you want to use flaxseeds more in your kitchen!
