Holidays During a Pandemic
Holidays during a pandemic
This year, we will experience an unusual holiday season. Unfortunately, we will have to stay home with our spouse, our children (for those who have some) or even alone. It's normal to feel sad and angry about this difficult news. It's important to remember that this is a temporary situation. We will soon find our holidays filled with love, family and friends!
In this challenging and uncommon time, I wanted to offer you my little tips to make your Christmas warm and sweet despite everything. This is the opportunity to get creative and change some traditions!
Here are my 6 tips for a Christmas in confinement
1. Decorate!
Decorating your apartment or house is essential to create the magic of the holidays! There's no need to go shopping to find beautiful decorations; just look at DIY ideas on Pinterest to create a wonderful vibe. Little lights, garlands, a small tree in the corner of the living room, all these cute details will help fill your heart with joy, that's for sure!
2. Cook!
No big dinners with family and friends this year? I can confirm that this is not a reason to put aside the holiday meals. Cooking is a way to relax and have fun. Holiday recipes bring a comforting and reassuring scent that brings back our childhood memories. Plus, it will give you plenty of delicious treats and meals to enjoy during the holidays!
3. Put Christmas music on!
Music can absolutely bring you that little Christmas magic touch you need. There are many holiday music playlists on Spotify, and I'm sure you'll find one you like. For my part, the holiday music helps me to feel calm and happy. It always makes me smile! I recommend you put some in the background for every activity you do during this season. For example, cooking, decorating, playing games and even cleaning!
4. Play games!
Discover new board games or simply games that you created yourself! It's not too late to go to the stores or shop online and find some fun games to play with your partner or with the kids. Time flies really fast when you play a good game in good company!
5. Listen to Christmas movies!
Usually, during the holidays, we tend to be very busy with all the family and friends' dinners. This year, we will have a lot of time for ourselves. Take the opportunity to watch your favorite Christmas movies or do a Harry Potter Marathon! There is a lot of Christmas movies on Netflix to please every taste.
6. Make video calls!
Finally, we must not forget that we have access to video calls and that we can spend time with our friends and family. Organizing multiple video calls, even if it's only for an hour or two, will bring you a lot of smiles and laughs. It's always nice to see your loved ones, even behind a screen, and to be able to wish each other a Merry Christmas!
